Throughout the course, emphasis is put on software utilization within accounting situations and use of accounting specific functions.
Students focus on current business issues and convey relevant meaning in oral and written format. The main themes of the course include writing reports and other relevant business documents e. It covers topics such as simple interest, compound interest, annuities-simple and general, bonds and cost-benefit analysis. ECON Economics 1 3 Economics I is an introductory microeconomics course which covers a broad curriculum of microeconomic principles. Students will study the foundations of economic choice, market pricing, consumer behaviour, business decision making, market structure and policy development in a small open economy like Canada.
QuickBooks and Sage 50 software is used to record and analyze transactions. Accounting cycle topics include: daily and month-end entries, accounts receivable and accounts payable accounting processes, banking and reporting. The content of lessons, assignments, and tests are based on the practice s of accounting in Canadian Business. Students will study measures of macroeconomic activity, growth in the economy and the government's role in stabilizing the economy.
MATH Statistics 3 This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of statistics. It includes regression analysis, probabilities and distributions, sampling, statistical estimation, and hypotheses testing. FINA Taxation 1 Personal Tax 5 This course provides the student with a basic knowledge of the structure, purpose and administration of the federal personal income tax system. The main goal of this course is to teach students to determine what financial information should be reported and how it should be quantified and disclosed according to generally accepted accounting principles.
This course focuses on financial statement presentation and the asset side of the balance sheet. This course investigates how individuals, groups, and structures influence and are, in turn, influenced by behaviours in organizations. Discussion will focus on topics that include: history of OB; evolution of organizational structure, design and culture; work place productivity, employee skills and technology demands; conflict resolution; interpersonal skills; legislation related to workplace discrimination and harassment; leadership; and management of change, power, and organizational politics.
INNV Innovation Applications 3 This course will explore Innovation through projects and group work that are assigned and developed in collaboration with your instructor. With the help of case studies, research reports, and creative thinking methods students will leverage their personal experiences and develop their capacity to innovate in multiple fields.

SYST Business Information Systems 3 This introductory course explores how information systems can be leveraged to transform business operations by examining system design, delivery and use.
The goal of this course is to teach students to make informed decisions about the applications of information technology in a range of business sectors. In particular, students will analyze the strategic importance of hardware, software, networks, and databases to an organization's ecosystem. As well, students will explore current trends and examine solutions to common business problems through the use of database, enterprise, and decision support software. Finally, students will not only investigate the process for developing new systems within an organization, but also learn to anticipate potential problems and identify possible solutions to systems implementation.
BE Internship Program. The purpose of the program is to allow students who will be going to college to have a real work-based experience in technical, skilled and professional occupations. A minimum of 50 field hours over a ten-week period is required. Students must submit an application and resume to the Business Education Department prior to being placed with a mentor.

It is suggested that anyone interested in a marketing career also sign up for Marketing II and consider joining DECA, a national club with a focus on Marketing to further enhance and apply marketing concepts. BE Marketing II. Marketing II provides a hands-on approach to the field of sales and marketing. Principles and concepts learned in Marketing I pricing, promotion, marketing research, product planning and management are practiced through activities and projects including a comprehensive advertising and sales plan.

This course offers students exposure to the fundamentals of the four most widely used software programs of the Microsoft Office Suite. Students will learn to create documents, workbooks, databases and presentations suitable for coursework, professional purposes and personal use.
Projects and exercises make learning this important suite of programs fun and exciting. This course is designed for the student who has a foundation of knowledge of Microsoft Office and wishes to go into the programs in more depth. Advanced projects and exercises will be used to create an exciting course that will afford students the opportunity to become highly skilled in the Microsoft Office Suite of programs.
This course provides students with the foundation for utilizing personal financial planning techniques. Students learn skills necessary to become a wise consumer, manage their own personal finances and develop a better understanding of the economic effects on personal financial resources. Students are exposed to topics such as credit, budgeting, banking, taxes, investing, careers, and more. Guest speakers, videos, internet activities and projects are used to make the curriculum come alive!

These are only some of the questions this course will address. Students will study law from a new perspective-that of the evolving set of rules that form our legal structure. As a result they will encounter many important social and ethical issues. Students will also examine practical issues related to their daily lives, both now and in the future.
